I have a Nvidia GeForce 7300 video card. I recently had to redo my pc. When I reinstalled Ubuntu my max resolution was 640x480 I installed the proper drivers for a 64 bit linux operating system. After installation and reboot the max resolution is 800x600. Before redoing my pc I had a much higher resolution. How can I fix this?

We can't help you unless you post your xorg.conf. This config file may be found at /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and controls how Xwindows interfaces with your screen and input device(s). Inside the file are lines for your monitor resolution; manually edit those to the desired resolution and refresh rate. You can also just use Ubuntu/Debian's ncurses/guided command line tool; dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg.
Here's the man page:

Sorry Ubuntu's not plug and play, but Ubuntu can only gussy up its antiquarian Worse is Better Unix underpinning so much. Compare it to the easy to work on '55 Belaire, and Windows the modern car where nothing ever fails, but if something does, only the experts can help.
this is what I would try first:
open a terminal and copy/paste
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
follow the prompts.
Any problems, go to ubuntuforums.com
You will get MUCH better support there.
