Im 21/male. I experienced some chest pains with firery stabbing pain in both arms including a dull aching pain in shoulder that seemed to move up and down arm.
Went to ER they ran some test EKG etc everything was normal. They took some blood and my troponin level was 3.76 and they stated normal levels should be .073
They ran ultrasound etc and eveyrthing indicated I was fine but they wanted to make sure I was not having a heart attack nor had heart damage so they did a heart cath everything was normal.
Any ideas why my levels would shoot that high?
I having to go to cardiologist this week.

Generally speaking a troponin of 3.76 would indicate a significant infarction so the lack of any supporting evidence suggests either the blood sample or testing procedure was incorrect. Also generally speaking the only other thing that causes increased troponin is renal failure so if otherwise healthy and with no renal history I'd say the test was a false positive.
YOU HAD A HEART ATTACK. Duh.
