I was on the pre-pharmacy track and decided to change my major in sophomore year because of the difficulty of the course. I had a 4.56 GPA in highschool with all honors or AP courses, but i did awful in calculus and chemistry courses in college. The class averages on each test were in the 'D' range. Even when i studied my BUTT off for every test, i could never get higher than a C because the information was not only difficult, but looked nothing like anything our classes taught. I am now a psychology major and getting nothing but A's in even the hardest courses, such as my 5 credit neurobiology course (i have a 98%.) Your not talking to an idiot here, im in the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society here and get Dean's list each semester, but i could NEVER keep up with the chemistry, organic chemistry, and calculus fields, no matter how hard i studied.

Pre-pharmacy is going to be a lot of science classes. If you aced your science classes in high school, then you will be off to a good start. Just remember to NOT procrastinate, because science classes either have a lot of memorization (like in biology) or problem solving (like chemistry) and to get good grades on the tests you will need to read the text and do problems from the text on a regular basis.

If you struggled in some science classes, like chemistry, then it is going to get harder. Chemistry is the most hated subject among pre-health peoples. If you have problems, don't hesitate to ask the professor questions in office hours, join a study group, or take advantage of any tutoring that is available.

Pre-pharmacy is tough, but survivable. Pharmacy school is very tough. They start weeding out in the 1st year of Pharmacy school. Work hard and build a solid foundation. Once you get in Pharmacy school your no longer competing for a slot but your going to be among alot of valedictorians and salutatorians who made A's all the way trough and who were all the best of the best at their high schools.

Be prepared to be average.

Pre-pharmacy is a very strenuous major. Math and science is extremly vital. You have to absolutely want it. My biggest challenge was my study habits or lack there of. I never had to put forth a lot of effort into getting good grades in high school but like you said high schol is not college. If you can discipline yourself to do well in chemistry, organic chemistry, and all math classes then you should be fine.
