I have two chihuahuas that were born in February of this year and I'm having a hard time potty training!!! I have newspapers down for when the weather is bad outside they pee on it, but pooping is a hole other story!!! I do not know what to do and when I'm at work should I kennel them or let them run the dining room. Thats where they are kept so they do not pee on the carpet. When i let them outside to play they will go pee.... but its just indoors where i need help!!!!!! :) Ill take any advice!!!
Update:I have also read that you should leave them in kennel when inside and take them out to go pee and put them back???? Which i do not do , i let them get out a play thats one reason I have newspapers down...

Too bad you bought puppies from a backyard breeder. NO reputable breeder will place 2 puppies at that same time to the same houshold. Chi's are difficult to train even when you have one. I would first suggest you either send one back to the crappy breeder or rehome one of them.
Second, Chi's need to be taken OUTSIDE to pee/poop every 2-3 hours round the clock till they are trained and this means 6 months or so because of their size. So working and having puppies is one of the stupidest things people do all the time.
You cannot crate the pup all day long - that is cruel. And teaching it to pee on anything in the house will take you twice as long (if ever) to train to be peeing outside. Do not use pads, newspapers or anything else for the pup to pee on. The pup HAS to be taken outside on a leash all the time to pee/poop.
They are still very young. I would get rid of the paper. Keep them in the kennel when you are not home. And take them outside as often as possible when you are home. With consistency, most puppies are potties trained around 4-5 months old.
ok. when you leave the house its best to put them in a kennel. it should not be to big just big enough to fit them, because if its to big they think its ok to pee in it and that is not good if your potty training. also try the little puppy pad things they use for potty training. when you are home you set it down somewhere out of the way and occasionally put them on it so they can get used to it. if they dont go potty try again later. next is the harder part. if they are still puppies cold weather is not good so avoid going outside a lot if its cold. now you need to start moving the potty training pad thing closer and closer to the back door where you want them to start going out side! pretty soon you will have the pad all the way out side. now occasionally put them outside to go potty some dogs when they are puppies need you with them soon they can do it by them selves. now its time for punishment for going in the house if the dogs go in the house rubbing their nose in it is up to you but just put them outside for a while and show them that its not ok to pee in the house. when they start going outside its good to praise them with small treats and lots of play time. GOOD LUCK
I had the same issue with my dog. I used this great training system I found online and my dog did a total 180.

You have to be consistent. It is especially helpful to catch them in the act of "doing their business" in a forbidden area. Scold them harshly and take them to the area you wish for them to do their business, whether it is the paper or outdoors. Praise them heavily when they go in the proper place. It takes time and effort. Finding where they messed up later and showing it to them, scolding them, and putting them where you wish them to go is somewhat less effective than catching them in the act. Don't stick their nose in it. This is simply transferring human feeling to the dog. Dogs eat their own poop and apparently delight in sniffing it, as well. Sticking their nose in it is pointless and nasty.
