Well it depends on the person but most girls just feel very frustrated for reasons stated by other answers. I'm not a scientist but it happens every month and can be very annoying for some people or even embarrassing. And then again there are hormones and they get her acting completely different than she usually would. I would say just try to be very nice and stay on her good side during her period and give her some alone time too if she is that kind of person and always remember she is under the effect of hormones so try to forgive any bitchiness but if you don't want to deal with that simply stay away for a while or give her some space.

There is a change in a females hormones. It affects the physical as well as the mental part of the body. As a woman I can tell you I have been sick enough from my period to stay in bed all day. There are a list of symptoms you probably rather not hear. Your girl friend is just like most other women. She probably is bitchy due to feeling awful ( feelings of over emotion, being bloated, constipated, sever cramps I only liken to child birth- and I have given births I can compare). She may benefit from the birth control pill which often makes a period less heavy and with less side effects. The emotional portion may not change but she may feel less pain. My best advise to you is don't take it personal. If all men felt what women feel they would understand. Since you can't just trust me - that's just the way it is for a woman during her period.We don't like it anymore that the guys do.

Offer to rub her shoulders, get her some chocolate and just be sensitive. You don't have to understand just act like it!!! :)

Hormones are raging, we really can't help it. It's not really the period, it's the hormones that causes us to overreact to every little thing for something that only god knows. It really isn't that bad, you're right, but with the hormones it causes us to just kinda turn in to a different person almost. Some girls are in a lot of pain, though so please be a little understanding of that. That might not be what you want to hear, but it will get better with age. You don't see a lot of older women complaining about it all the time, do you?

Well, we can't really control it, we get hormones that make us dislike boys on our period and we get irratible...also its painful and annoying to have to put up with everything at the time. So we can't control it, its almost like when you see a picture of a naked girl, you get excited right? When we have our period we automatically get mean! Thats just the way we work! Sorry! Lol

Second of all, the reason we are all bitchy - is because our hormones are out of control, and our body is actually shedding a layer of the wall of our cervix.

I wont get into the gory details as to why having a period isn't a piece of cake.....but - if you are interested in getting married or having an extended relationship with a girl - get used to it.

Well, having a period is a horrible experience. You feel horrible and your hormones are raging out of control, so things that seem like they shouldn't make you mad, are just magnified by all the other that is happening to you. That is why I get bitchy about that time. Because I hate my life and everything around me.

It's kind of like watching your favorite baseball team up to bat, and the bases are loaded... you start to get excited (not sexually, or maybe you do but that's another topic for another day ;) ) and then they hit a grand slam home run and your team just won the game. HELL YEA!!! and you're jumping around, slappin each other on the *** and so on. You don't think about it, it just is. Well that's how it is for us. We start to get emotional when it's about that time. Believe me, we know we're doing it, we just can't help it, and then before we know it, nothing you do is right, we don't fit in our jeans, and if one more person says "is it that time of month!?" we may be sent to prison for manslaughter.

Okay, so think... If you were completely frustrated with the fact you had to wear tampon or pad, you had bloating which made it harder for some clothes to fit, and you had horrible cramps for so many days... Wouldn't you be a bit mad? And irritable? I think it's mostly hormones, though. The only thing I do is whine and curl up into a ball until my period is over.

And sorry about your girlfriend. Try to be really nice to her during her period, though... Despite the way she acts.

there is really bad cramps, your back aches and you get tired even if you sleep 10 hours sometimes your breast hurt, you get really emotional even if you dont want to like something simple can make you cry. It is because our hormones are going crazy so your mood is constantly changing. it isnt our fault i would like to see you guys have periods and not be bitchy.
