Chopin's etude difficulty level?
Hi, I would like to know what's the difficulty level for Chopin's etude op.10-4
like what songs should i master before attempting this song. been playing piano since 1st grade to now senior year of high school with like a year break during middle school.
I was reading this questoin:

and this line caught me: Instead of spending a lot of time learning a piece that is far from her level, give her other pieces to build her up to the Etude. It may be a more effective way to spend time and help her move up levels to make learning the Etude enjoyable and a faster process.

I'm afraid setting a difficulty level for a Chopin Etude greatly differs from each person because of there is no one person who has the same innate talent for,say arpeggios than another.
I personally find the Op.10 No.1 to be a breeze but the No.4 to be a terror. It honestly depends on the level of technique you have.
I recommend that you play at least the first few bars with separate hands then try to combine them both.Tempo is not an issue but you must feel comfortable doing so.If you don't then avoid this and build technique.
I recommend Flight of the Bumblebee(Don't thumb me down for this)arranged by Rachmaninoff because it is fast so you need to start slow when learning and it involves continuous semiquavers throughout the whole piece which would help your technique.Perhaps Czerny's Art of finger dexterity might help too.
Good luck learning this piece.
