Most people associate problems controlling their bladders with the very old, Goldberg said, but up to 65 percent of women experience bladder control problems during pregnancy or after childbirth. If they are younger, they don't talk about it. They isolate themselves and feel ashamed.

"Ever Since I Had My Baby" explains the primary reasons for incontinence and offers techniques for preventing problems before they happen, particularly during childbirth. In simple-to-understand language, it offers suggestions on dealing with incontinence problems, such as new medications or collagen injections, which are approved by the FDA for urinary incontinence, and in women are administered in the neck of the bladder.

"I want women to feel their problems are validated," he said. "I hope this provides them with the opportunity to share their problem with their physician and seek help."
