the reason for this is defiantly not my skill, but my size.. (not to brag here but im described as well built and 6'2 and im in year 8).
i have never played the game;if you where a coach what position would you put me in.. all i know is that i will be a 'forward'... what do i do? what boots shall i buy? if you where me how would you play? my friends say just to charge at goals.. should i? if someone could give me a breif overview on how to 'scrum', what to do when tackled and what positions i may be i would be deeply great full! thanks.

well mate ur a lot like me, big and strong lol. it depends on a number of things like your speed, ability to take tackles and play the ball quickly and your overall fitness. I play around center and sometime on the wing.
from what you say on your size you would be suited in the forward pack, bacicaly when you get the ball look for gaps in the defensive line or weak defenders and run at them. i have no idea what boots to buy lol. a scrum in league is pretty much uncontested so you just have to bind and remain there until the ball is out.
i did my best to cover everything lol. also just a little tip, mabey some time after school or when you get a chance go to a park or somthing and just practise the bacic ball skills. trust me it'l make a huge difference when you play because you will develop a feel for the ball before you actually play a game.
hope i could help a little and good luck with it mate (:
I used to be a high school team coach, and I must say I would've loved to have a lad of your size on my team! I would use you in the second row, that way you won't just be bashing the ball at the opposition all day. You practice your offloading ability, so you can pop a ball free if your arms are left open. Also, if you're in the second row you will get a bit more space to charge into open space standing one or two wide of the ruck. Use your size as a strategic tool and not a weapon and you will find some success in the game.
As for boots, go for a good pair of soccer style boots with moulded studs. These type of boots provide better foot support and distribute your weight evenly over the surface of the boot, and a boy of your size needs a supportive boot to be comfortable.
I hope I have been of some help. If you need any advice or have any questions, please email me.
Good luck!!!
Have to see you. Really doesn't matter as much where you play because as a tall kid who hasn't played, its most likely you will not play Hooker, Lock, Standoff, Half, or full back. All other positions, hit whats in front of you and run like your girlfriend is is a burning house behind the opposition. Be fearless. Soft runners and tacklers always get killed. Boots, who cares, whatever is comfortable. Are you fast? are you hard? League is brain dead and ferocious. don't think to hard and don't let yourself be impressed by people who tell you players are clever. Catch, pass (if you feel you can) and hug (tackle). Its really not that complex.
