Please don't give this a big laugh--it is not a cure for the reason but you can stop the cramps in toes and calves, when you start to feel the cramp coming gently bite your bottom lip for a bit and bam no more cramp. Just suck your lower lip into your mouth and clamp down.
There is at least one medication for this. It could be you are using your legs more than usual, or you're not getting enough fluid or other reasons I'm not aware of. Your doc will probably give you quinine for it. I understand this works well.

If you're asking how to get rid of them.
It helps me to massage it and then put some icy hot on it and not move my leg for like 15 minutes after to be sure it doesn't come back.
Then drink water because normally I cramp when I haven't had a lot of water.

if there are no other known medical reasons, drink plenty of water. it helps my leg cramps.
I swear by magnesium in the short term sports drink do work well just don't guzzle the whole bottle at once
usually you get cramps from dehydration or a low level of calcium or and potassium
I used to get them very badly in my feet but since i began taking a calcium supplement they've gone away.
