I'm studying abroad in Spain for 6 weeks, and then I'm traveling for 2 weeks after with my sister.
I need advice on where to go and how to go- cheaply.
I'm flying to Madrid from Seville to meet up with my sister. After our 2 weeks of traveling, we have to get back to Madrid to catch our flight back to the US.
1) Where should we go? We'll see Spain (either starting or ending there) and we want to go to Italy. We're also open to anywhere else like Greece, Scotland, Ireland, etc. Anywhere.
2) How should we travel. The "days" of the Eurorail confuse me. Can anyone explain that? And whats the best one to buy?
3) While I'm studying in Spain for 6 weeks- what should I do & where should I go? My goal is to see ALL of Spain first, and then try to travel out to a different countries!
By the way, I'm going May-July!
Thanks!

1. You only have 2 weeks, that does not leave you enough time to get a train to Italy, or anywhere else for that matter, have you looked at the distances? Why don't you do a few days in Spain and then spend a week somewhere in France.
2. Travel by train, but don't by a Eurail Pass. These pay for themselves if you're travelling long distances for 6 to 8 weeks, but you are not. Just buy tickets as you need them.
3. Just how much free time will you have to travel while you're studying? You might have time to do a few trips at the weekend, but have a look at a map. Spain is a big country, and again the distances between cities are quite big. If you're based in Seville, you could look at trips to Cordoba, Cadiz, Merida, Ronda, Malaga, Gibraltar, and many of the little towns in the surrounding area. But you won't have time to see the Barcelona/Valencia area, or the North of Spain. And you certainly won't have time, while you're studying, to travel beyond Spain.
Europe is absolutely gorgeous! especially spain. While you are in spain, you might want to see the basque country. popular cities in Euskadi (the basque country) are Bilbo and Donostia (san sabastian). The eurorail is the best way to travel in europe between european countries. It seems complicated to most americans, but it is quiet simple when you arrive you will figure it out, and there are plenty of people that speak english that can help you find your way along your travels. Greece would not be the safest place to visit right now, but Cinque Terre in Italy is absolutely amazing, then of course Florence, Venice, Rome, Milan, basically anywhere you go in italy is worth visiting. Germany is also very beautiful and it is between spain and italy, so you could make a few stops in random towns/ cities. Dont be too planned out for your eurorail adventure, its best to be in the moment and you will have such a more amazing trip. Hopefullly this helps :)

LOL sorry but this made me laugh.
Believe it or not but you could stay for the rest of your life in a country and would
still be not able to see everything.
