You could maybe take your dog to a obedience class, he will get some important socialisation with other dogs and people there.

You can set up some schedule for yourself, use a calendar to cross off days or some sort of timeline/plan so you don't get frustrated when he gets stubborn/bored etc

It will really help you be patient and keep showing up for training (e.g. for 8 weeks, 5 min of training then 5 min break/play, then again 5 min training 3-4 day/s week)

for laying down, I always just put pressure on their shoulder blades (not enough to hurt them, just enough to get the stubborn pups to lay down). Refusing to come is fairly common, but when he doesn't come, you need to let him know that it is not acceptable to ignore you, or he will not see the need to come when you call. Just go and get him....but act mad. Stomp or something to let him know that you are not happy. As for heeling, just walk with the lead and hold it by your leg, and whenever he tries to get in front of you, stop and yank the lead back towards you and say heel.
