I am using an Apple iBook running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. I have 256 MB of SDRAM. I was wondering why when I play a video... even one that I have saved to the computer itself the video will play very choppy and flow like it should. It is like this in both iTunes and QuickTime and also when I am attempting to stream from Safari. I have the most current versions of the applications available. Would my issue being not enough memory or the video card? Any help will be appreciated.

256 ram is not a lot of memory, could be causing your problem, you should be running at least a gig nowadays.
How old is your laptop? I honestly don't know man, but I can tell you that my girlfriend's laptop had the same exact issue when streaming flash online. I don't know about videos that were saved to her hard drive though -- we didn't have any to test.
I did a LOT of searching on the issue, because she swears that the videos played fine at one point in time. I think that, for some reason, a lot of older macs have problems handling flash video. I don't know about other formats, but hers was definitely jacked up. I know for a fact that her computer is more than capable of smoothly playing flash videos.
Just check the Codecs, i can't recomend any for your OS, as i don't recomend Apple in general, but it isn't likely the RAM, even 64MB systems can play video without skips.
You should check your Video Card Driver also, try updating and if that doesn't work try rolling it back. You could even try (if possible) a different Video Player.
