Run, run, run and workout, workout, workout. Stay slim and build strength. Also, have another cheerleader or friend watch you. Watch yourself practice in the mirror. Judges want good form, spirit, and flexability. Work on stretching, splits, and jumps. If tumbling is required, do not attempt on your own. Find a professional tumbling coach to help you.
I'm not a cheerleader but I'm friends with them and sometimes I tumble for fun. If you want to be on JV or Varsity, you're going to have to get your back handspring and/or your backtuck down. If you want to be on the freshman team, (way better, trust me, because the older girls are really mean to freshman) then you don't have to know how to flip YET, but you're going to have to be really flexible and know how to do splits, back walkover, handstand, the bridge, etc.. and those are good to practice to get flexible. Make sure you smile when you try out and stay confident. Good luck!
at my school you have to be able to do jumps such as a pike, a russian, or an around the world. and you can also tumble if you want...you have a variety of chocies
