Ok I am six months pregnant with a gir and cant possibly think of any names maybe you guys could help me out. I want something that is original and not that common.
Frank Zappa the legendary musician named his kids Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Rodan, and Diva. If you are as eccentric as this fellow then go for the unique names you might stumble upon, but if not I'm not sure if youre gonna live with those kids crazy names though or you might regret. Choose something that has meaning. Brangelina's kid Shiloh Nouvel and TomKat's Baby Suri didn't just pop in their minds while registering the baby's name just to be unique. They already have that in mind because it meant a lot to them.
Always consider the future of the child. Remember the child in Sweden who got named "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb1111", just to protest against the Swedish gov't and also to show artistic creativity, that's gotta be dumb, right?
A girlfriend and I were talking about this just today at lunchtime. We seemed to like names for virtues and abstract concepts: Bliss, Hope, Faith, Charity, and Melody. We also liked names which have a family connotation, for us that included names like: Violet, Esther, Ann, and Lance. I also like it when girls are named with erstwhile boys' names: my own name is actually Lee, but I think Shelby is cute, Jordan would work for either gender, and Mychal is cute (for Michael). More common names are popular for a reason - they're good solid names for people having babies: you can't go wrong with Sarah, Michael, John, Jennifer.
I would steer clear of names that smack "of the moment" - i.e. Paris & Tiffany.
I've pasted a few web-sites below which are fun when thinking about naming babies. Actually, the SSA one is pretty good for looking at your own name and its popularity in your birth year. ;)
I adore the name LuLu. I also have a friend who's little girls name is GiGi. My husband is stuck on the name Tuesday. I also always thought the name Lura was a cool name. Like allure.
Viola - very cute for a little girl, elegant for an adult. Can go by "Vi" for a nickname.
Serena - Calming, kind, not very common.
Holly - While not a very unique name, there aren't a lot of girls out there named Holly. For me it always made me think of Holly-hocks, those pretty stalks of flowers.
Best of luck with your pregnancy, and your little girl's name!
I have two friends who have come up with unusual names. one is a little more common, named her daughter Macy. the other i've never heard before, is Janaya---like the name Jenae only with an 'ah sound at the end.

You would have to at least list some names you like, the array of options is endless and everyone has a basic category of name types they prefer.
