Since so many people believe in the Trinity, can someone supply me the scripture that shows us where Jesus and his disciples teached this VERY important issue????? For that matter, Can someone find any scripture that mentions “Trinity”?
Can someone find any scripture that says that God is made up of three distinct persons, Father, Son, and holy spirit, but that the three are only one God? Can someone find any scripture that says that the Father, Son, and holy spirit are equal in ALL ways, such as in eternity, power, position, and wisdom?
Update:Trinitarians may say that the Bible “implies” a Trinity. But this claim is made long after the Bible was written. It is an attempt to read into the Bible what clergymen of later times arbitrarily decided should be doctrine.
Ask yourself: Why would the Bible only “imply” its most important teaching—who God is? The Bible is clear on other basic teachings; why not on this, the most important one? Would not the Creator of the universe author a book that was clear on his being a Trinity if that were the case?
The reason the Bible does not clearly teach the Trinity doctrine is simple: It is not a Bible teaching. Had God been a Trinity, he would surely have made it clear so that Jesus and his disciples could have taught it to others. And that vital information would have been included in God’s inspired Word. It would not have been left to imperfect men to struggle with centuries later.
Update 3:John 1:1 in some translations, where “the Word” is spoken of as being “with God” and as being “God.” But other Bible translations say that the Word was “a god” or was “divine,” meaning not necessarily God but a powerful one. Furthermore, that Bible verse says that “the Word” was “with” God. That would reasonably exclude him from being that same God. And no matter what is concluded about “the Word,” the fact is that only two persons are mentioned at John 1:1, not three. Over and over again, all texts used to try to support the Trinity doctrine utterly fail to do so when examined honestly.
Update 5:Cuch, I will never change my Bible Based beliefs... I have many translations of the Bible... I have done much research, it all comes out the same.... The Trinity is a doctrine.... I would never turn my back on Jehovah! You could never show me anything. The Trinity is NOT true!
Update 7:John 10:30, is often cited to support the Trinity, even though no third person is mentioned there. But Jesus himself showed what he meant by his being “one” with the Father. At John 17:21, 22, he prayed to God that his disciples “may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, . . . that they may be one just as we are one.” Was Jesus praying that all his disciples would become a single entity? No, obviously Jesus was praying that they would be united in thought and purpose, as he and God were.—See also 1 Corinthians 1:10.

I agree with the point your trying to make and many people throw the 1Jo 5:7 text at this question where it says

what do you call the person who is your dads dad - grandfather?

do you realize that non of those last three words are in the bible. apparently no matter what scripture is given, you will not understand the concept. whle i do not believe in the concept of the "rature" as it's wrtten by so many people, i respect their opinions and do not chaztize them - for it is not as I see it.
Mt 28:19 where Christ tells to go forth to all nations baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. another favorite is when a priest ends mass and quotes 2 Cor 13:14 The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God and the communion/fellowship of the Holy Ghost be with yo all. 1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." Genises, God said, let US make man in OUR image, etc. etc. God is a trinity. And Jesus said, "I and the Father are one" and "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." And when Thomas saw him after the Resurrection, he said, "My Lord and my God."

There is not the word Trinity but there is the Trinity. There is a verse in John 1:1 that says that the Word, that is the Son, is eternal. There is also another verse in 10:10 tha says, that the Son and the Father are One. There is another verse in John 14 5 Jesus said to him, I am the way and the reality and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and henceforth you know Him and have seen Him. 8 Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father and it is sufficient for us. 9 Jesus said to him, Have I been so long a time with you, and you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how is it that you say, Show us the Father? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? the trinity was not taught to the jews for one thing, the trinity is a N.T. idea so it is a greek, Jew and christian or one of the counsel ideal others idea, They work as seperate people in matt. 3:16-17.

JR's right, you can look in a number of translations and you'll notice that 1 John 5:7 isn't found in 'full' in too many besides the KJV (perhaps b/c the translators were trying to support a specific concept?).
Oh well, besides that, this topic's been pretty well covered. God never claimed to be 3 people, Jesus never claimed to be God, the Holy Spirit never spoke because it's not a person, what else is there to say?
Nowhere in the Bible is the trinity mentioned....
I can, however, give you the Jewish perspective on this concept:
The Jewish idea of God is that God is One and Indivisible. We cannot divide God up into separate parts, where each part of God is UnEqual to each of the other parts, but somehow they are one and the same. The Hebrew Scriptures describes God as an absolute One, but the Christian's New Testament describes the Christian idea of God as divisible into three parts called a trinity. In the Christian's New Testament, Jesus at one point claims to have different knowledge than other parts of the Christian Trinity. For example, Matthew 24:36 or Mark 13:32. In another verse, Jesus does not have the same power as other parts of the Christian Trinity, for example, Luke 23:34. And in Matthew 26:42, Jesus's will is not the same as the will of the Father. Indeed, Jesus often contrasted himself with the Father, for example, in John 14:28, or Luke 18:19. Furthermore, Jesus supposedly said that the punishment for blaspheming against one part of the Trinity is not the same punishment for blaspheming against another part of the Trinity. In the Hebrew Scriptures, however, God is One, as we read in Deuteronomy 6:4, as well as in Isaiah 44:6, where God tells us, "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." When Isaiah tells us that God said, "I am the first," it means that God has no father. When Isaiah tells us that God said, "I am the last," it means that God has no literal son. And when Isaiah tells us that God said, "Besides me there is no God," it means that God does not share being God with any other god, or demi-god, or semi-god, or persons, and there is no trinity.

That is where our two religions do agree at least in part. As Mormon we believe in God the father, Jesus his son and the holy Ghost. They are truly three different personages. God has no equal even though he has given Jesus all that he has in terms of knowledge and power. However Jesus does have all the power and knowledge of God as he was resurrected and taken into the kingdom of heaven where God did share all he had with his beloved son as was promised to him and to us if we do all that is required in the scriptures.
1 John 5:7 is not in the original wrights.. It is why most bibles other than the KJV do not use it.
