I would take my son in with me when I would go. When I sat down, he would sit down. If there was poop or pee in it when we were done....I would reward him with cheers and then reward him with candy......one day I put fruit loops in the potty and told him to aim for the cereal with his pee............he had so much fun he always wanted to go to the bathroom.....I have much more suggestions if you need them Yes...and use regular underwear.....kids don't like the feel of wet underwear....diapers keep the dry feel.....that's why it doesnt bother them as much as when you put on regular underpants

Lots of patience..when you ask him to go he will say no..have him go anyway..make it fun to sit on the potty. I found my son liked to read the potty training books while he sat on the potty..i always made him sit there for at least 5 min. I also sent him in the bathroom when his dad would go so he could see what the BIG boys do and how much fun it is. He will potty when he is ready. Again lots of patience is a requirement for this job. My son was potty trained at 3 fully trained at night by 4..My friends son however will be 5 in mar and he is just getting the night thing down pat. So when he is ready he will show tell you until then keep on taking him every hr or so til he goes..when he does go make a big deal out of it and really applause him.

With all four of my children I went from diapers to underwear, and just rode it out for a few days.

The girls were no problem, by my last (and only boy!) was a real trial. We went to underwear with Thomas on them and no matter what I didn't give into the diapers or pull-ups. We went through a couple of days of pee accidents and 5 days where he refused to poo. We ended up (on the advice of our pediatrician) using glycerin suppositories and once he poo'd on the potty all was well.

He is three and 3 months, and has been fully potty trained since September.

Parents are the "in charge" people in the household - children need to realize that. I am not advocating being mean or abusive, but lay down the law with your son. At 4 unless he has a medical condition he is fully capable of using the toilet.

He may be scared of the toilet. Stop flushing it when he is in the bathroom. For some reason this freaks some kids out. (they think they'll get sucked down there, or it is too noisy, etc...)

Also, remember this, going potty is the last milestone from "baby" to "big boy". When and where they go is the ONLY thing they have left that they can control. And this very well may be the issue considering he is four. I know it gets difficult when they are this old. My suggestion is take him to the doc and make sure that it isn't anything medical. If it isn't, don't make a big deal out of it. Seriously, he knows that he is in control of the situation. He'll do it when he doesn't feel the power struggle. Good Luck.

With her 2 kids my friend let them run around in JUST a t-shirt, they dont like the way the urine feels when it goes all over them. You will have a little mess to clean up, but it works!

Oh & another friend just simply told her son that he couldnt go to school until he went potty like a big boy, because they dont take babies in school. He was very eager to go to school so that worked for her!

My friend potty trained my son what she did was put on regular underwear and not take them off. If he wet she changed him and they tried again. She got really mad if I used pull ups b/c it made him back slide. But be aware about when he eats and drinks about 5 to 10 minutes later take him to the bathroom and have him sit there for about 2 to 3 minutes. If he does his business reward him with praise he will get the hint. Good Luck.

Have a pants off weekend. That's what we did. We just didn't let her wear any diapers or panties or anything during the day. She threw tantrums on the potty for a few days, but now she goes on her own all the time. Just remember: you are potty training. If you leave out the "training" part, you're just spinning your wheels.

it took me about a month to get my son to do it. i skipped the pull-ups since they felt just like a diaper to him and he wouldn't ever want to go. i also skipped the "little" potty that sits on the floor next to the regular toilet. i got one of those inexpensive seats that sits right on the regular toilet. i found that helped him feel more like a "big boy" and every morning when we got up, i took off the diaper right away and put him on the potty (don't ask them, you're the adult) and if he didn't go, that was okay. i would put his regular underpants on and we would go about our day as usual and every hour or so i would go and get him and put him on the potty. after many tantrums and soaking wet pants, he got the idea and now he's very proud of himself!! good luck!!

Take the child to the potty and run the sink water (the sound of water mess you use it)

Purchase the toddler toilet seat with the childs favorite character

It will take time don't rush it about the time he'll be in kindergarden he will have it=))

Aiming for the fruitloops was a good idea. We did the hi 5 and good job, candy, telling the pee pee bye bye. We also would keep the diaper/pull up on and "pretend" to use it. Like a game. Then we cut a hole in the pull up and it went through. After that, no problems.
