they can get anywhere from a 10 year ban to a lifetime ban depending on how many other crimes they committed while being here. Kate has it all wrong, there is no law that allows you to automatically stay if married, ask many of the whiners on here that boo hoo because their other half was deported as they should have been.
Another consideration as far as "time left" : If deported, then 5 years. However, if illegal in the country for more than 6-12months prior to deportation, the person is barred for three years from entering the U.S. (the time runs simultaneously, so this does not add more time). However, if that neighbor of yours was in the U.S. without status for 1 year or more prior to deportation, then he will be barred from admission for 10 years (again, times run simultaneously).
I had a friend that was deported last year, and once it is determined that you are an illigal, you are banned from the United States forever, especially if it went to trial. The recently passed a new law that you could only stay if you were married to an American citizen, it didnt matter whether you had kids here or not
i don't know if this really helps, but this is what i found, sorry
Q: What is the basis for being deported? What are the consequences of deportation?
A: Deportation (or removal) occurs when an alien is found to have violated certain immigration or criminal laws, consequences being that the alien forfeits his or her right to remain in the U.S., and is usually barred from returning.
Well, that person will be competing with millions of other people fighting for their chance in the U.S.
On average it could take 8 to 15 years to even get into America
Left: Socially Liberal, more people than corporation. Far Left: Borderline socialists, just two pegs short of a Lenin mural.
when a person gets deported they can stay up to 5-8 years.
