I'm going with a high school group to Europe next June. Can anyone give me tips on airport security, flying, packing, etc.? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Packing: pack as lightly as you can using the smallest bag possible. Forget your hairdryer & curling iron, or tons of shoes - they'll only weigh you down. You never know when you're going to have to lug your suitcase up a couple of flights of stairs. If you're going with a HS group, chances are you will not be staying in fancy hotels w/bellmen and will need to carry your own bag. Bring wrinkle-free clothes that coordinate so you get more uses out of your items. Put a couple of undies & a spare shirt in your carryon in case your bag gets lost.
Secuity: check out the TSA website to see what items are restricted. If you need gels/liquids, put them in a quart size ziploc bag and keep the items under 3 oz. Wear shoes that you can take off/put on easily.
Flying: bring a couple of snacks and things to do like magazines, books, or puzzles. If you have an mp3/ipod portable dvd player, bring them. Try to sleep on the plane, though because if you land in Europe during the day, your tour guide may take you sightseeing before even unpacking or going to the hotel. It happened to me & I was exhausted & stuck carrying a hugely heavy carryon bag all around Rome.
Have a blast, take a ton of pictures, and if you feel like buying something, buy it cause you never know when you'll be back.

Just some obvious advise - Don't take much hand luggage
- Wear flight socks
- Make sure that you can get stuff you need regularly without unpacking everything
- Take less than you pack first time
- Have fun
