I am driving to Chicago from Indiana (about a 3 hour drive) and will be attending a concert that evening. Having never been to Chicago, I need some pointers on how/ where to park my car and a cheap hotel for the night (preferably a short distance outside the city). Can anyone offer any tips for travel/parking/lodging in the Chicago area?
Also, if it helps, the concert is located at the House of Blues on Dearborne St...

If you are particularly looking for the cheapest price on hotel in Chicago, Illinois then look here: http://search.lowerhotels.com/City/Chicago.htm and sort it by price.
If you google maps the location, you will see that there is a parking lot directly beside the House of Blues. You can also generate a map to get you there from your starting point. As for accommodation, there are several hotels within walking distance of your destination but they will not be cheap. To find less expensive, you will be back into Indiana. I also think you should allow at least 1 extra hour travel time and more if you will be going in during rush hour. House of Blues is downtown and just getting to the exit ramp from the expressway can take almost 60 minutes in rush hour.
Try the Best Western in River North. They have free parking and it is a 10 minute walk from the HOB.
