I want to join the track team at school and I want to be a sprinter. The only thing is, sometimes they do teams runs or they have some sprinters do long distance since the team is small and I don't want to. I know some friends on the team that do distance but they are both really good runners and can run 3-4 miles easily! I just don't want to make a fool of myself. People told me to run before track starts so I can get good but I have no one to run with and I don't want to go alone. HELP!

Don't worry about not being able to run far enough! Coaches know that not everyone can endure distance running, so they will understand if the sprinters aren't as fast or able as the distance runners, because that's not how their bodies work. Does your school have conditioning? The track conditioning at my school just started and it's a great way to meet people on the team and start to get into shape before the season even starts.
