My poor son is 8.5 months old and is soooo snotty today. He woke up at around 2am and was breathing really raspy. I sucked out his nose and there was so much snot! He was naturally very upset. I gave him some tylenol cough and cold this morning and he seems a little better. There is no fever but he did throw up last night. I called the doctor and he said it sounds like a cold and not to worry. Could this also just be from teething? He has had a tooth that broke through about 4 months ago and has not budged since then. Its still barely poking through. Maybe its just its time to come in? I feel so bad for him!. What do you think .... Cold ..... teething? What can I do?
Update:Poor guy always throws up when he has alot of drainage. He also used to have reflux really bad so im sure that does'nt help either.

Probably a cold, but continue to get the snot out, and use a cool mist humidifier. keeping his nose clean and dry 'could' prevent an ear infection. The throwing up is more than likely due to the snot going down into his tummy. Believe or not, the tummy, the nasal passages and the ears are all connected, to much snot in the nose can drain to your belly and make you throw up, or drain to your ears and cause an ear infection. continue with the medicine for a few days. Watch for high fever, or more throwing up, either of these will need a doctor's attention.
Poor baby. His stomach may have been upset last night from all of the mucus, as well.
The key is keeping him comfortable and hydrated. He may not want eat much by way of solids, but liquids are important. And a warm bath will help.
If he does spike a fever, I would bring him into the Ped. While there, I would point out the tooth again for him to have a look and offer some advice/reassurance.
Good luck!
My 7 month old is going through the same thing! He's FULL of snot and could not sleep cause he can't breathe. He's getting his first 2 bottom teeth.
We bought some saline baby nose drops and got a mist humidifier for his room. We got one at walmart for $13.00.
You can buy an oily "medicine" to put in the humidifier also.
Prop up one side of his crib mattress, we used a blanket .
Good Luck! I know its sad! : (
It could very well be teething and a cold. Its so hard to determine. Im really sorry for you little one. Does he sound congested in his chest?? If so give him a bath with the Vapor bath soap, take him in the bathroom and run a hot shower, Give him lots of hugs and kisses. Hope the little guy feels better soon!!
