Recently, I have found that when I fall asleep on my back I have a strange feeling of waking myself up. It's kinda like when you have a bad dream and you try to wake yourself up. Any ideas of what this is?

Its not your dreams that are causing this but your body. You might have sleep apnea, which is what I had. Sleep apnea means that you are choking on your own tonsils and waking yourself up. I reccommed seeing an ENT doctor to see if you should have a Tonsilectomy. It will help you sleep and breath much better.
take a sleep disorder test with you doc.. try smoken some mary-jane for a week before you go to sleep 1/2 hour or so before .. or get some nose strips. Improve your breathing. try sleeping siting up a bit. use more pellows
