Every night i go to bed to try to get sleep but i have trouble falling asleep or if i fall asleep i usually wake up again after about three to four hours what could be wrong or what could i do to fall asleep without waking up a little while after?

I've had this problem for about two years now. Are you stressed out about something? Drinking caffeine within two hours of bedtime? If you answered yes to both of these questions, that could be the problem.
I, too, take Melatonin. It's a safe non-habit forming herb that you can find by the vitamins at your local pharmacy to enhance sleep. Good Luck!
I have this problem to and I have found that if I play a T'ai Chi CD very low that I will sleep all night. On my CD there are 8 tracks I only hear 2 of them before I'm out of the night. ( I have two children so I don't like taking any kind of pills because if they need me in the middle of the night I want to be able to wake up and help them.) I all so made a copy for work (nap time for the 3 and 4 year olds) and they liked it because they would go to sleep by the 3rd track and the copy I made for a friend said she doesn't remember any thing after the 1st track. So try it it might work for you too. Happy Sleeping
Perhaps you have sleep apnea. It is the condition where the lungs do not get enough air so the body compensates by waking up the person. For this, I suggest going to a sleep clinic.
Another possibility is, there might be something in your mind that you keep thinking about. A personal journal by your bedside to record what is in your mind when you are in bed and remains sleepless may point out areas that may be keeping you up.

Buy some melatonin. Or just wait until you are tired enough that you know you'll fall asleep. If you can't fall asleep, get out of bed, and read a book or something, but don't just lay there trying.
I too had the same problem and the only thing that helped me was Tamazapam but it is habit forming so I only take it when i have the next day off and it lets me get a really solid sleep
what usually works for me is prayer. Pray before you go to bed and you will see that you will have peaceful sleep.
