Drag racing is an acceleration contest over a distance of a quarter of a mile. For a given total weight, the speed of a car at the end of the race is a function of the car's power. For a total weight of 3500 pounds, the speed s (in miles per hour) can be modeled by s = 14.8 3 (or 3rd power) to the square root of p where p is the power (in horsepower). Graph the model. then determine the power of a car that reaches a speed of 100 miles per hour.

The question is not clear however I can provide a few equations related to the model on hand.
P=Fv
p- power
F - force
v - velocity
S=.5at^2 or S=.5 x a x t x t
S dist ace (your 1/4 mile)
a - acceleration
t - time (to say get from start to 1/4 mile)
F=ma
F- force
m- mass
a - acceleration
V(avg)=S/t
So P=F v(avg)
P=FS/t
since a =2S/t^2
F=ma=m2S/t^2
in terms of speed time it takes to get to the 1/4 mile mark
since P=(m2S/t^2)v
or
P=(m2S/t^2)(S/t)
P=2mS^2/t^3
Now what do you want to know? ;-)
