Does the military follow up on hotel receipts? Like if they get a receipt from you for a travel claim do they call the hotel to verify? And FYI I was sent TAD to a town where I had a friend who lives there and stayed with him for a month. Now I need to throw him some money for rent or whatever and was going to print up a couple of hotel receipts to cover it.

If you want to get your money back from a hotel you need to show a receipt. So you have letter head to cover a hotel reciept. lol You also had to be authorized to stay at a hotel which in your orders will state no government quarters available and normally even with that you are still required to get a statement of non availability when you sign in.
The only receipts you have to show are for hotels (no matter how much) or any expense over $75.00
Not everyone has a goverment card. That is why you can still request advance travel pay.
Two months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a travel claim. The mypay link will help once the payment has gone through but he really needs to take this up with finance. BTW 10 days is standard for a travel claim payment.
All lodging related expenses have to be paid for on the government issued travel card. And they will check the receipt against the travel card statement to ensure that the correct amount was charged.
People go to jail for this stuff. Why the f*ck if you were authorized lodging did you stay with your friend?

so you are trying/wanting to commit fraud. real smart dumbass.
the only way to pay for authorized travel expenses is via the Gov't issue credit card. you cannot just print up a hotel receipt as the the travel allwoance is paid directly to the card/hotel used
It is unlikely that anyone checks with hotels regarding travel claims. It is illegal, though, to just make up receipts and expenses, so I wouldn't do it.
