An 83.5 kg fullback moving east with a speed of 6.0 m/s is tackled by a 90.0 kg opponent running west at 2.80 m/s, and the collision is perfectly inelastic.
Calculate the velocity of the players just after the tackle.
Calculate the decrease in kinetic energy during the collision.
I have gotten some answers but the program i am using keeps telling me my answer it wrong

momentum is conserved, the players stick together after the collision. two particles in, one out. two velocities in, one out. p=mv
m1=83.5 kg; v1=6 m/s
m2= 90 kg; v2= 2.8 m/s
=> p1=m1*v1= 501 kg.m/s
p2=m2*v2= 252 kg.m/s
=> p= p1-p2=249 kg.m/s.
Because they stick together right after the collision,
=>m=m1+m2=173.5 kg.
p=m*v => v=p/m=249/173.5=1.435 m/s (to the east).
