I know I might sound a bit of a nerd or an idiot to ask this, but I just have my doubts.
I've played world at war and black ops and I know that Reznov wouldn't die that easily during the escape of Vorkuta. Or in this case, Reznov wouldn't die that easily.
There is no evidence, like photographs to prove that Reznov is dead. Apart from his death certificate, but that is it.
So I think when Hudson was interrogating Mason and said Reznov was dead for 5 years, I think it was to demoralise him and make him break to say how to translate the numbers. I understand that Reznov brainwashed him and 'was' there with him all the way.
Another theory is that Reznov could be presumed dead. Hudson wasn't there, and they haven't found the body.
Plus during black ops 2, when Woods mentions about Reznov, he speaks as if he doesn't want to believe Reznov is alive.
These are my theories about the matter, I still think Reznov survived, but what about you?

It's unknown. After the escape from Vokuta, his fate is unknown. I believe he's alive.
regrettably Viktor is useless, he became not anything yet a figment of Mason's mind's eye as he became a stable pal to Mason in Vorkuta. He died interior the penitentiary breakout yet Mason continually notwithstanding Viktor became with him. Mason simply denied that he became useless which added about him to create a figment of Rezenov because of the actuality he may want to no longer take the indisputable actuality that he died.
Pretty sure he's dead since his is not even mentioned or recognized in Black Ops 2
