I was recently issued a ticket for a minor traffic violation in Kane County, Illinois. But the police office gave me the blue (court copy) as well as the yellow (violator's copy). Isn't the blue copy used in court? How can I check if this ticket even exists in the system? Should I go to court? Just pay the ticket and do traffic school?

pay it
White copy is used in court, it is the actual complaint.
The blue copy is supposed to stay in the ticket book so the officer can look up a ticket number if he want. Officers also can make notes about the stop on the blue copy to refresh memory before court.
So the ticket should be filed the normal way, the blue copy basically has no importance.
If not a fix it ticket your best bet is to pay and take school to keep your record as clear as possible and make it harder to lose your license in the future if something else happens.
