A lot depends upon what day and at what time you wish to leave, and when you want to return. An ordinary return journey is around £81.00, but can be around £41.00 for specific trains, booked in advance.
Go to the Network Rail website (www.nationalrail.co.uk) to check train times and fares, and book tickets. You could also use the websites of any Train Operating Company - all others charge booking fees.
Please note that in the UK you MUST purchase a ticket or permit to travel before boarding - the exceptions are a few local 'Paytrain' services, which don't apply in you case. Most conductors will sell you a ticket (although they cannot sell discounted fares), but they are not legally obliged to - you could end up having to pay the full single fare plus a penalty fare for not buying a ticket before boarding.
