so last night my dog went into the kitchen and all of the sudden his back legs gave out. He was flopping all over. I picked him up and gave him to my mom. My mom had to brush her teeth so she gave him to my dad. When he was holding him my dad noticed that his gut was pounding in and out so he put him down. All of the sudden after about 10 seconds when my dad put him down he started flopping all over the place like a fish out of water. My dad calmed him down by holding him on the floor....
What happened to him..? After about 10 minutes he was fine and jumping again. Was this a seizure? Is it serious?

Yes, this sounds like your dog had a seizure & if you don't act on it soon by like taking your dog to the vet or something it could become fatal.. My grandmas dogs had seizers and now 2 of them have passed away. I don't know for sure but I think it is worse with small dogs! My grandma had 6 miniature schnauzers, and now she only has 4. I pray that everything goes well with your dog & that you'll have many more beautiful years with him!!! GOD BLESS!!!
Yes it sounds very much like a seizure and you should have the dog taken to the vet. I bet it scared the wits out of you all, but the dog does need to see the vet, as he is probably suffering epileptic fits, oddly enough quite common in dogs.
The vet will give you medication for the dog to help prevent these seizures and also tell you how to handle the dog whilst it is having one. Its important to know, that no matter how loving and gentle the dog may be with you all, when going through a seizure it could snap or bite, it would not do this to you on purpose but whilst the seizure occurs the poor dog has no control. So the thing to do is when it happens and the dog goes floppy etc, be in the room with the dog but do not touch, just speak to the dog gently, when the dog comes out of the seizure then you can give it cuddles and love, and settle it down into its bed with fresh water.
I have had dogs all my life, and touch wood never one that has suffered these attacks, but I know I would instinctively want to go pick it up and cuddle it, but knowing others who have had these dogs that have seizures its the wrong thing to do. Knowing me I would stand by watching no doubt sobbing then when all was over give the dog heaps of pampered love. So I do realize it must have been a terrible shock for you when this happened to your dog. Medication will slow them down and may even prevent them happening again. Sometimes a dog has one and then never any more, I hope this will be true in your dogs case.
Ughhh.... my dog does the same exact thing. How old is he? What kind of dog is he? What we do when this happens is we hold him and massage his muscles cuz they just seem to lock up and need to be relaxed. A hot bath also helps.
That does not sound good at all and would advise seeing a vet asap, common sense really if you saw a person doing that would you not call a doctor!?
GET TO THE VET RIGHT NOW!
Possibly, yes. Please talk to your parents about getting him to a vet today.
