first of good luck. I hope you have been preparing! if not you better start!!! okay so first off stretch a lot now it will help when tryouts come trust me. sorry if this is lengthy im trying to help you. okay so stretching wise do this. stand up legs straight touch toes without bending knees do this 15 times. do butterflys 15 times, lie down on back, lift leg up and grab with hand and pull towards you so you feel a stretch, and sit down legs in front of you and grab both feet hold for 30-60 seconds, and also do one leg too. and look up stretches on google.
jumps: toe touch, herkies, hurdlers, and pike pratice 15 each jump a day. worry about form and height, but most importantly form. (youtube tutorials)
tumbling: I dont know the teams requirments.. but a lot of teams require a back hand spring, if you have that or a tuck or anything great... see any local cheer or gymnastics gym and go to a tumbling class asap!!!
motions: have sharp tight motions, and make sure you know them all. high v, low v, etc.. (youtube) pratice them in a mirror so by tryouts it wont feel weird
cheers: shouldnt be screechy or yelling. cheer from your stomach (make sense) be loud and clear!
stunting: know a little about stunting, names of stunts, flyers bases and spotters. (youtube..)
other tips: wear shorts and tee shirt with a sports bra. bring a water and eat a nice dinner the night before, and kind of a light breakfest, cereal, bananna... have your hair in a neat ponytail. you can wear your school colors. wear clean socks. and sneakers, if you have cheer shoes bring them. but they are not required for tryouts. if you mess up at any point keep going! and SMILE! also be very friendly and polite and outgoing.. a lot of times judges look at personality it isnt on the score sheet but makes a big difference. also start running, and weight lifting to build up endurance... a lot of times for hs tryouts u have to run a mile. but idk about ur team. also learn all the cheer words so u know that everyones talking about. and with the dances it goes by a count of 8 (youtube again.) I will give you a link to a website that i think helps a lot.... i dont cheer there but i love it. http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/basics.htm
http://www.youtube.com/ just enter cheerleading and what you want to know. good luck hope this helped sorry its so long i stress it even more go to a tumbling gym tomorrow!!! and look at youtube videos and learn the other stuff!!!!!!!
Personality:
Energy
Smile
Facials (any silly, but not ugly, facial expressions) Practice in front of a mirror
Jumps:
Stretch for 15 minutes every night
1. Straddle (side splits/legs in a V) to each side twice and to the middle twice
2. Pike, legs straight in front of you. Point your toes and reach and hold for as long as you can. Flex your feet and repeat.
3. Butterfly
4. Extended Butterfly - reach forward
Practice each jump 5 times (or more)
Left Herkie, Right Herkie, Toe touch, Left hurdler, Right hurdler, Pike, Tuck
(Google them, some images may not be correct though)
Tumbling:
Find a gym near you (like for cheer, gymnastics etc.), and see if they have open gym days where you can practice for free, or enroll in a tumbling class.
Do not to try new skills without a spotter.
Some things to learn
1 Backbend
2 Cartwheel
3 Roundoff
4 Back walkover
5Front walkover
Voice:
Cheerleaders are expected to sound like Ken, not Barbie. Work on cheering but use your stomach to push your words out. If you use your throat, you will sound different, and loose your voice.
Try to make friends with the other girls trying out, don't mae cliques. Talk to the coach ahead of time to see what she wants yall to know how to do. You can have a heads up, and she'll know you're interested :)
Basically:
Stretch as often as possible.
Work on your jumps, toe touches mainly because those are usually a must have.
Hitting you High V's, T's, Low T's etc.
Practice being sharp!
Work on your facials (the will dock you points if you have no personality, just dont go too overboard).
Keep eye contact.
Remember if you mess up keep going and act like it was part of the routine!
i suggest start working out in these 15 days.
STRETCH, get those jumps as high as you can, stretch your splits (all 3 sides)
eat/drink healthy things.
practice your tumbling, and your loud voice.
get your tryout clothes prepared ( i know it sounds weird, but don't wait to get it all, get your clothes now! )
smile while you're doing your cheer/ chant & jumps & tumbling, haha :)
you can wow the judges by doing things that will surprise them, show them you have prep.
hit the crowd, meaning, run into the tryout yelling/ chanting your mascots name. be as loud as you can, without straining your vocal cords. try to get more jumps, your not going to make it with just a herkie.
in those 15 days , be healthy as HELL, eat fruits, drink water, and just relax breath good luck:)
get as much tumbling as you can down
