Well if you're gonna stop doing something you've been doing for that long, my answer would be yes. You know what they say: stick to what you're good at. If you stop dancing because your mother doesn't tell you she's proud of you, then that's her fault. Talk to her about it. Until then, just keep dancing for the enjoyment. Post Youtube videos of your dancing, you never know how many people might actually like your dancing! Never give up!
My advice is stop dancing but just for now don't say your quitting it forever, don't leave it with anger or resentment think of it as a brilliant skill that you now have you can always go back to if you want.
Find something more fulfilling in your life and do it for your self, whatever brings the biggest smile to your face and the most joy to your heart will take you the furthest in life your still a young dancing soul who has all the time in the world girl make the most of it but for you, because after all your the one living your life not your mother as sweet as she may be.
Good luck and safe travels to you.
You need to do what makes you happy and not worry about what everyone else thinks.
If dancing is not what you want to do than by all means don't do it.
People are only saying that because they "assumed" that was what you enjoyed doing and "thought" that is what you'd be doing with your life, but sometimes things change and our lives take a new direction and lead us to what we are suppose to do.
Don't be scared or feel like you are throwing your life away, your 16 you have a lifetime to figure out what you want to do.
I danced for 5 years and I love to dance I just have a stronger passion for musical theater and I can still dance doing that as well as sing and act :) you should consider it
