I have windows 7 64-bit OS, 4GB RAM. When I used to look at the "my computer properties" it would say that I had 3.80GB RAM usable. When I looked at it today it said that I only have 2.43GB RAM usable. I have searched for some solutions and they say that updating the BIOS might fix it or to turn off memory remapping, I don't know how to do those two things. Any ideas would be very helpful.
Update:I don't think its because of background programs because the system is saying that out of 4GB RAM that is installed I can only use 2.43GB of it. I updated the BIOS and hasn't changed anything.

To update the BIOS go to the laptop manufacturer support website and click download and look up you model and operating system scroll list to BIOS update and follow instructions to download and update it. To check you installed memory modules go to http://www.crucial.com/ enter laptops info.
Well here I can see that it's probably taking up more RAM because there are probably more background processes then before.
