this clutch runs on a hydraulic system, you can adjust this at the clutch master cylinder. sits just behind the pedal. You would need to know what you are doing to adjust this. This will only adjust the pedal an inch each way.sounds like you are gone to have to replace the clutch kit.
Citroen C5 Clutch Replacement
That is the first sign of the clutch going, one good test is to put it into third gear on a flat area, and just dump the clutch with no acceleration, although this is not exactly the best way of telling, but if it is on the way, then the car shouldnt stall.
From my experience, when a clutch pedal is biting at the upmost of the pedal travel, then no matter how much you adjust, which i don't think there is any adjustment, as being french, it is all hydraulic and automatic, then you are just delaying the inevitable. I would book it in with the garage asap and get it done, being that old and done that many miles, that clutch has done a fair bit of work.
Don't expect it to cheap should you take it in to the dealer, as changing a clutch, the technician can be given about 5 hours to do it, so you will have that much labour, plus the parts cost, plus VAT, so looking around £600 to get it all done i would think. Possibly more.
I'm surprised it hasn't completely crapped out already. Citroen's are cool cars, but they are not the height of good European auto making.
Go get the replaced now. It will cost more when it burns out.
