There will be four, maybe five people not including the birthday girl. The girl's dad, who's paying for the party, doesn't want to go too far away from home (Gridley, CA). There'll be three girl guests, and one or two boy guests. No one is interested in the 'grown-up for a day' or childish birthday ideas. They're a pretty mature group, and country all the way through. The birthday girl lives on a ranch by a river with big, open orchards and small, rocky hills, if that helps. What might we do for her 13th birthday?
