My yorkie is two years old, and I have not cut her hair. I wanted to keep her black color, but the hair breaks once it reaches a certain length. I use high-end pet shampoos and conditioners, a leave in detangler, and a pick to go through her hair. I also feed her an expensive high quality food. Any suggestions?
Update:I am trying to keep her coat as long as I can. I have been grooming her feet, hiney, and face, but would like to keep her hair healthy and long.

This site has a grooming guide on it that is what I use. Go to the information page for the link to it. I've done what this has said all along and mines hair is on the to the floor and looks really pretty.
Cutting the hair won't change the color. The hair will either lighten or it won't. Yorkies are supposed to be blue and tan in color.
You are already taking excellent care of her coat. Just be sure to keep it out of her eyes and don't let her trip on it. Cut it or not, that's up to you.
For now, save him brushed and combed daily so he gets used to it. intently trim fur faraway from his eyes, if mandatory. in case you bathe him, use purely an quite gentle hypo-allergenic pup shampoo. Brush and comb him formerly AND after his tub. save water out of his ears, eyes, nostril and mouth. verify to rinse off all the suds. Dry him proper away. you should use a hair dryer set on LOW. do no longer bathe greater suitable than as quickly as a week, and much less in lots of circumstances is fantastic. He won't be able to be wisely groomed in a shop till he has had all of his photographs, which includes rabies. it is your activity to maintain him tangle-loose till then, so he won't get shaved.
