We have a nice HP all-in-one family of scan, print, etc. with something like 5 color cartridges. For home use, we don't print that much so it takes a while to run out of ink. Now we can't use the printer because the cartridges are expiring - not out of ink. That is really annoying!

Hi
If you are printing only once in a Blue Moon, remover the cartdeige and put it in the plastic case that comes with the new HP cartdirge., or wrap it in saran wrap. When you are reaedy to use it, pop them back in. Just because it expires doesn.t mean its no good. i leave cartridges in for a year and they still work.
But, as stated, remove them and store them in a cool place and you will get good result and able to print till they run out :-)
Some printers, HP included, say that printer cartridges 'may need to be changed/may be out of ink', etc before they actually are...this is both to prevent any surprises but also gets us to spend more money by buying another ink cartridge before we actually have to. I wait until the warning pops up, and if I anticipate doing a lot of printing soon, I'll buy another ink cartridge, but I don't put them in until the suckers actually run dry. It won't hurt the printer at all, you just get that annoying warning. And you can usually reset the 'warning' by taking the cartridge out and then putting it back in again.
The ink dries up - but you can try the cartridge past the expiration date - it will either work or it won't. It won't hurt the printer.
I've had that its a real pain. pass the date and printer refuses to print.
Easiest way is to set the date back a year on your PC, print your stuff, then bring the pc date back up to normal.
I agree one hundred and one % . i became examining an editorial some months in the past approximately how ink barons have been keeping the notice to ransom, it is ridiculous. and fantastically each and every of the crap approximately approximately making use of genuine manufacturers cartridges. such as you're saying its a rip off, while i seem for a printer i constantly ask how lots the cartridges are and additionally seem around the supermarkets for known ones that are many times a million/2 fee. I even have even crammed up the black cartridge making use of syringe and a bottle of ink for a fountain pen and it works. Your no longer the only guy or woman who grudges the fee of cartridges!!!
