psia is pounds per square inch absolute, that is it includes atmospheric pressure. psig is the reading you get on a gauge and is atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi) less. psi is just pounds per square inch and it is appropriate to use this when one is talking about pressure difference.
It's essentially just the differences in the base point you're starting from. psia is absolute and measured as absolute pressure, whereas psig is gauge pressure, which is just the difference between the measured pressure and atmospheric pressure.
In my experience, psi is generally gauge pressure.
psi is a pressure unit and it means amount of pound force that exerts on square inches of earea and in fact it is synopsis of poundforce per square inch.
there are two types of pressures that we may concern: gauge pressure and absolute pressure.
when you compare the magnitude of pressure with the ambient pressure in fact it is a gauge pressure.
when you tell it without any relation with ambient (atmosphereic pressure) it is the absolute pressure.
psia means absolute pressure and psig means gauge pressure.
Negative thinking defines pessimists....When we allow ourselves to think negatively we damage our potential in many ways. The worst thing is that we are so wrapped in negativity that we cannot even see that there are ways out. Positive thinking creates optimists....Positive thoughts can only shape your reality for better. Besides, they make you feel good in the now

RE:
what's different between psi, psia and psig?
i'm so confuse about this 3 pressure units .. pls explain for me . Thanks a lot

psipsia psig
psi is pound per square inch pressure
psia is pound per square inch absolute (in respect to absolute vacuum)
psig is pound per square inch gage (indicated differential pressure between ambient pressure and the measured pressure)
all those units are outdated. Today the international units of pressure are (Pascal) Pa, hPa and Bar
The suffix absolute or gage should never added into the dimensional unit.
Use it as follows: Absolute pressure = 5 bar
Differential pressure = 4 bar
