My friend and her family invited me on vacation with them. This trip involves travel to another country and a 10 hour flight. I don't like flying. I am very anxious on planes and I've been worrying about this trip for months. I don't want to get panickey and make the trip bad for them. It will also be the longest time I am away from my family, but I know that I will be fine after we land. Any tips on staying calm on the plane without using meds?

You're gonna let a flight dictate your entire vacation? Dude. Get real. You have a great oppurtunity to see a new country. Don't be a wimp, just download a few movies (guilty pleasures) or read a book. You will be well taken care of. DON'T LET A FLIGHT RUIN YOUR VACATION.
Make sure that your kids are comfortable is one of the first key steps in ensuring your kids are going to be happy during the flight.
The one thing you can always say about traveling is it is always an adventure. Of course when you plan a vacation, that is basically what you were wanting was an adventure.
You will need a NOTARIZED letter from both parents that says you can travel internationally, and a second letter that allows these folks to act as your guardians in case of you're having a medical emergency.
Your anxiety is easily solved by seeing your doctor.
As a flight attendant, it is our job to ensure the safety AND comfort of all passengers aboard an aircraft. When on the plane, if you need and special assistance be sure to talk to the flight attendant(s) and people you are going with.
Best tip? Relax. I've had so many jitters while flying, especially in the beginning. You get used to it. You have a better chance of getting hurt with a can opener than the plane crashing!
Focus on the trip itself, forget the plane ride! It's a beautiful sight from a plane, though :)
I wish you the best!
Distract yourself on the plane. Read a book, watch a movie, etc.
What have you got against using meds? Talk to your doctor about your anxiety and IF he recommends a medication use it.
