I'm only 17 and i can already tell you that thongs are NOT a big deal! I promise! When I was twelve i was in the same situation, but dont even worry about what your friends are doing. Thongs may look pretty but nobody cares if a twelve year old has pantie lines anyway :)

you can only get an infection if you dont wash the thongs after you wear them.it would be from them not being sanitary.you may also get a slight rash if you move A LOT while wearing it.they may be uncomfortable but after an hour or so you will get used to it.most people wear thongs if they are intimate or sexual.or if the like to advertise themselves.and some people think it just feels good.

as for convincing your mom....snoop around her room and see if you can find one of hers.and then tell her she wears them so u should b able to also.or you can just have one of your friends buy u some and not tell your mom.
