Here is what has worked for us. And it does not matter what size dog you have it will work.
First get you a crate(Kennel) Go to PetSmart and have them help you fit the dog to the proper size.
Next make sure that you use the crate as a safe place for the her. Not a punishment area. Crating your dog may sound harsh but if you use it the proper way then you dog will use it as a comfort zone.
Keep your dog in the crate while you are gone and if possible at night while you are asleep. Put her favorite toy(s) in along with a cozy blanket or bed. No food or water. When you return or wake take her outside immediately and praise her as you are doing so. Tell her "lets go potty" or some other phrase that you like.
It's ok to keep her out of the crate while you are at home and awake. But watch her closely. Take her out immediately after she eats or drink water, after she is done playing or when she wake up.
Please whatever you do, do not use any kind of negative reinforcement. It use to be that if you caught you dog in the act scold them or even swat them with a newspaper. But that only causes them to be afraid of you.
Positive reinforcement works much better. Make it fun for them to go out.
And if you like feel free to email me and I will help you with suggestions. We have 5 dogs and we potty trained them all using this method. We were totally against crate training but we tried it and it works great and our dogs no longer need the crate.

And please I don't charge anything. We just like helping out as much as possible.
You can buy a potty seat he can use on the adult potty, or you can make him use the boy or girl. Either way you'll most of the time need to stay in the toilet with him unless he goes for the first few months of potty training. Do not anticipate him to be competent to move in there and deal with it himself. Snatch a booklet and plant your self except he goes. Do not make it annoying. That you could offer a reward of some type if he uses either potty (like two m&m's). Be patient despite the fact that he is now not and don't fear. Training takes time.
How do you know she was abused? Spanking isn't good anyhow.. No hitting at all when it comes to training.. It accomplishes nothing good.. Makes her think you don't know what you are doing. Dogs that are beaten into learning, don't learn like a dog that is actually taught the right way to do things..
1 week is not an awful lot of time to get her to realize what you are talking about.. Unless she stayed with her mom like she should have, and started learning with the breeder.. And then just naturally learned that pee goes outside.. You will have a while before you can get her to realize that pee goes outside .. You haven't given her enough time to learn that yet.. Take her out, go with her, praise her, treat her, play with her, go back in.. 1/2 hour later bring her out.. and do it all over again.. Crate her when you can't watch her, or when you are sleeping, leave the house etc.. She'll get it.. You just have to be consistent..
The biggest thing to remember with toy dogs is that their bladders are very small and they often can't hold it all day while the family is at work or school. Training her to use a litter box or pee pads can be very helpful with this. Try to take her out as much as possible and give her lots of praise when she gets it right.
When he uses the restroom he circles around and gets comfortable right??, keep a close eye on him and when he does that imediatly take him to a newspaper and praise him when he does him business.
its probably improbably to get a chihuahua to reach all the way to a toilet to potty train her. its just too tall. but u can get her to go outside. just remember that 30 mins after she eats she should be ready and just get her in the habit of doin that. but if u do potty train her please send me a video. that would be amazing
