I have a 2 and half boy child (3 in April). I have tried many times to potty train. He understands the Idea he knows that when he use his pants or diaper its not good. He comes and tells me to change him because he wet him self or other. The thing is when i sit him in the bathroom he will sit for awhile and not go but I put underwear/diaper he will go in those. I ask him ever 10 min and ever 15 min I put him on the toilet. But nothing, we even have read books in the bathroom. I have read books even the one potty train in one day it didn't work we did the doll and party. I am enrolled in college now and to get him in the daycare at school he has to be potty trained. I can't enroll him in a full time one because I am a stay at home mom and that cost to much for the few hrs that are needed. I have 2 other kids it was never this hard with them

stop with the diapers. use pull ups for nap and bedtime only and long car rides. make him sit on the potty once an hour every hour for at least 5 minutes. go to walmart or some store that sells underwear and let him pick out some. buy about a dozen pairs. to keep down laundry. put him in underwear as soon as he gets up explain to him that if he pees in them he will be wet. and that the person on them (spongebob, spiderman, whoever) wont like it. so he has to keep them dry. worked great for my son in one week he was daytime trained
also keep the naptime and bedtime pullups hidden

I had no trouble potty training my twin daughters several years ago.
He really wants to go to preschool and I've told him that the rule is that he has to go on the potty. He's sometimes cares and sometimes doesn't care at ALL. He is very smart. So I don't get it. I'm interested to hear any ideas other people have. I'm trying not to get too visibly concerned about it, so it won't become a power struggle. I am currently bribing with candy. Yes, I know it's not good but that's where I am now. I am also trying the raisins that are coated with yogurt, he thinks of them almost as candy, yet they will help him go #2, so maybe we'll be successful.
When I potty trained my twin girls, I worked on it the most during the summer. I just kept their clothing down to a t-shirt and their cloth training pants, so it would be easy for them to go. I gave them as much Kool Aid as they could drink and then went to the potty a lot. The repetition finally did it I think. Also using the cloth training pants, and when they wet them I made THEM take them off and throw them in the bathtub so I could was them later, and then THEY had to put on clean ones. When it inconvenienced THEM, then changes happened. Right now It's only inconveniencing you.
So this is what I will be doing as soon as the weather warms up. It'll be rough but hopefully over fast.

Potty Training is a power issue with kids. Here is what I did. i have 3 kids and one on the way. I limit liquid intake to 3 times a day. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Nothing else unless they are just dying of thirst. Then like you I take them to the pot every 10-15 minutes. If they pee on themselves they are then responsible for cleaning it up if they made a mess, changing their sheets if they were in the bed and getting out new underwear. You need to stop letting him bring you diapers to change him and you should stop buying diapers. When you are potty training diapers give off the sense that you are still saying peeing in them is okay. If he pees on himself make him change his clothes and underwear. I used pullups only and night and at nap. Also when he pees on himself let him know that you are not happy with his behavoir and that he needs to go to the potty. Leave it at that. But when he does go make sure you make a huge deal out of it. You may try putting up a sticker chart and whenever he goes in the potty take him to the chart and let him put a sticker on it so he can see his own progress. Whatever you do DON"T BRIBE HIM!!!!! You will be bribing him for life if you start that bad habit. He has to know that he has a responsiblity as a "big boy" to go potty. Be firm and stick to it. It will be hard at first but eventually he will get it. Most kids either can't seperate the feeling of having to go so that is why I limited my kids intake of juice so that they could feel what it is like when they have to go. If you give him juice all day he can't decipher when he has to go he just knows all of a sudden he has to go. I hope this helps you out :)
You should buy a potty seat he can use at the grownup potty, or you'll make him use the baby. Either means you'll be able to ordinarily need to keep in the toilet with him till he is going for the primary few months of potty coaching. Don't anticipate him to be ready to head in there and maintain it himself. Grab a publication and plant your self till he is going. Don't make it traumatic. You can present a present of a few form if he makes use of both potty (like 2 m&m's). Be sufferer even supposing he isn't and do not fear. Training takes time.
well if all else fails, and since he is well old enough, give him a treat if he goes in the potty, but only if he goes. candy would work for now later you can slack off once he is in the habit.
