my daughter is 26 months old and she does not want to use the potty. I have tried so many types of rewards, she just doesnt want to. What can i do to make her want to go in the potty?????
What has been working for us is what we are calling potty training bootcamp. For the first two or three days I sat out in the backyard with him and a gallon of water and a kiddie pool, and a potty. We let him run around naked so that when he started to pee he could see what was happening. He learned to put the feeling and the action togethor. By the end of the weekend he was getting better about knowing when he had to pee. Starting Monday we put him in underpants with plastic pants and took him to the potty every 20 min wether he had to go or not. If he was dry all morning he got a sticker and then if he is dry all afternoon he get another. When he had earned 5 stickers he gets a brownie(his favorite)
It takes time, but he is starting to get the idea. You just need to be patient and find out what motivates her. For us it is brownies, Once you start you can't stop and it is best to try to stay home for at least a week, until she is relaiably dry at home. If we have to go out we still use pull ups.
I wouldn't worry too much. Children learn to use the toilet anywhere between the ages of 18 months to 4 years old. I have seen plenty of 3 year olds who are still using pull ups occasionally. Every child is different and you need to find what works for you. When she gets it, she will start to move very fast and before you know it you will be giving away the diapers.
My oldest daughter was potty trained by 2 1/2. It didn't take long, and she has only had maybe 4 accidents at night since then..she is now 6.
My other daughter, began at the same age as her older sister. However, I had the same trouble as you did with her. Nothing worked..putting the potty chair in the bathroom next to the toilet helped for a short while. I would make her go every time I had to go, and she liked that idea. Then she got tired of it. So we bought her a little potty seat for the toilet, hoping she would like this idea a lot better...big sister uses the big toilet, and she looks up to her....but this didn't work. Nothing worked, and she was nearly 3, still in pull-ups. So, I kind of forced her into big girl panties. I didn't make her feel she was forced, I made it a celebration. That did the trick....for a few months. She started wetting her panties and finding corners to pee in when no one was paying attention.
She's 3 1/2 now, and still sometimes gives me trouble with going on the potty, but does a lot better.
The point? Yours will go when she is ready. Don't try to force her into big girl panties until she is 100% ready. I wish I hadn't, but our budget is tight, and pull-ups were getting too expensive for us on one income.
Some suggestions would be to get her excited about using the potty. When you have to go, get extremely excited, and grab her hand, take her with you all the while raving about how you have to pee so bad, and get to use the potty. Clap after like you did something amazing, if you're not shy, show her your 'good deed' and let her flush it away. This worked with my oldest, not my youngest.
My daughter is almost 2 and we are starting potty training. We purchased this musical timer and every time it goes off its potty time. We set it for like every 30 or 45 minutes. She loves it and runs to the potty everytime. You could also try letting her pick a book to read on the potty.
Potty training my son wasn't very difficult, however my brother had problems with his twins.
They just refused to sit on the potty. So, they finally put them in regular underwear and it took 2 accidents and they freaked out an went to the potty.
Your daughter might not be ready also....the twins were a bit older when they finally tried that method.
Have you tried potty training DVD's? We got a few from the library and my kids LOVED them. Their favorite was Potty Power which had a song called, "No more diapers for me"--sometimes I still have that song in my head (a year later).
I have learned in my class that babies will do what they want to do when they are ready. Maybe she's not ready yet. I suggest you wait about 2 more months and try it again. Or buy her some of those pull up diapers, she can try to be potty trained and if there's an accident, it gets caught!
you will desire to purchase a potty seat he can use on the person potty, or you additionally could make him use the infant. the two way you will in all danger would desire to stay interior the bathing room with him till he is going for the 1st few months of potty coaching. do not assume him to have the potential to bypass in there and guard it himself. grab a e book and plant your self till he is going. do not make it stressful. you may furnish a advantages of a few type if he makes use of the two potty (like 2 m&m's). wait and notice whether he isn't and don't problem. coaching takes time.
children develops differently, it cld be tt your daughter is just not ready for potty training. one sign tt your girl might be ready is tt her diapers are dry throughout the day and especially at night and during naptime.
one probable sign also could be peer pressure. she might not have any older peer to 'look up' to tts y she felt tt she is still 'the baby'. you cld use an elder peer - preferably not too big gap in age - to use as an example tt 'big girls' use the potty.
this requires lots of patience and takes quite some time. however, try not to exert too much pressure on your girl as it might cause her to be stressed on the potty training.
