You're going to need patience and a routine! Just so you know- your kiddo may not be ready at 2. Remember: it's easier to change a diaper in public than it is to change pants.

Get into a routine of having your child sit on the toilet/potty seat a few times a day, especially after meals. Eventually, that cold seat may make the child pee! The thing is, kids don't understand that they can control their bowels. It may take awhile for your child to understand this. Be patient. My daughter basically potty trained herself at 3 1/2. That's late, but the upside is she had minimal accidents after that, whereas "potty trained" 2 year olds I've known wet themselves almost daily. That's not what I'd call trained!

I think 2 is a little too early. You can do it but it takes longer and there are lots of accidents. I have twin girls who are 4 and I waited until they were 3 and it was so easy. It took less than a week, and there were only a couple of accidents. If you want to do it now I would get some stickers and a potty chart and let her put a sticker on the chart everytime she goes, but if you have the patience to wait I would definatly wait.

The only thing that worked for my step-daughter was a potty book I purchased from the childs section at barnes and noble they had one for girls and one for boys and I would read it to her everyday and less then a week she was potty trained sounds crazy but after having tried for 4 months before that I was ready to try anything hehe

ok I worked in a daycare for a while and i potty trained. Ok the first thing you have to get you child to sit on the potty, maybe get a lil seat to sit on top of the tolit so he/she is not afriad of falling in. Wut i would do is change them, and put them on the potty for a lil while. Encourage them tell him/her how a big boy or girl they are being. Let me tell you it'll take time. Just have them sit on the potty they will go. It may not be for 2 weeks of sitting them on the potty. Another thing you have to be consistant, when you change him/her put her in the potty. If not it will confuse them. Also when they do go potty have a prize or a sticker they know they did good. I hope i helped a lil bit Good luck let me know how it went

you need to wait until she is interested in trying to go on the potty. we bought a book that is only for potty time< elmo can use the potty!> and ould take her to the bathroom when we had to go. then we let her flush the toilet and talked about the potty. when she asked to go potty, we took her to the store to pick out some panties<she's been picking out her clothes since she was 9 months!> and let her pick a potty seat and stool<being two she chose elmo, ofcourse!> there will be accidents, but be sure not to scold her for these! use positive reenforcement, like " i see you didn't make it to the potty this time. it's ok, lets try to get to the potty next time!" when she/ he is ready they will let you know!! You can start introducing as early as you want. I've just started randomly putting my 19 month old daughter on the potty to get her used to it, too. She was scared at first, but I hugged her and told her it was okay. A few times later, she's no longer scared of it. I'd say that's your first thing...make sure they're not scared of the potty. Once they don't have a fear...I'd personally wait until around 3 (unless they take an interest to it themselves).

We attempted it at around 2 with our son and I just felt like he wasn't cognitively getting it. He was peeing all over the place, pooping his pants and making life miserable for me (with a newborn and a dog). My mother in law kept telling us that the longer you wait, the harder it is. However, when we finally did go "commando" with our son at a little over 3, he did it in a week. We did have a hiccup, but it was solved quickly through reasoning. THAT sure beats battling with toilet-training for MONTHS.

Go at your own speed and off the cues of your child. Some take an interest in it and will train themselves. Those who lean towards resistant (my son)...I'd wait until they're older.

It's not a stupid question, since all first time parents struggle with finding the right ways to do that.

First of all have a potty ready for your child to use. There are many creative ways to do it. If she is a girl I like the nail polish one. Tell her to stay dry all day and you paint one of her nails for every day she stays dry and promise her you'll buy her her own color when she's got all 10 done.

If it is a girl, get some pretty panties or some with her favorite character on them and tell her not to pee pee on them. It worked for my 2 year old girl. Also, always but them on the potty as soon as they wake up in the morning and from naps, even if they have already gone in their diaper or pull up. This will help them put the two together. The way I trained my son:

I waited after i knew he didn't go for awhile or when I knew he was problebly going to go.I would put him in the potty and sit right next to him with my back against the couch because I knew i was going to be there awhile.

I few times he tried to get up but I sat him down and said no.We'd watch TV.

This all took about 3 hours.At one point he fell asleep on the potty.it was ok.My X eccused me of child abuse for keeping him on there that long.

He never cried a tear and there were no struggles.I think it was because i sat next to him.I few times he tried to get up after he woke up but I told him no. and to go potty.

He finally did.When this happens praise the liveing heck out of him for it.Children love praise and give him the potty with poo and have him dump it and praise him again alot.Act like it's a big party.The reason for this is so it will motivate him to do the right thing again.Tell him things like he's a big boy now.You're growing up.

Our daughter was completely trained by 2 years, 4 months. What worked for us was to reward a successful trip to the bathroom by letting her put a sticker on a poster board and choosing two M&Ms candies from the bag.

It didn't take long at all to train her.
