Potty training tips?
My daughter is 18 months old and I've just started potty training a little while ago. Or I've tried to start potty training. The problem is she seems scared of her potty for some reason. I've tried showing her how to do it, I've tried luring her with toys, I've even tried putting it in front of the TV. I know she won't be potty trained for a while but I at least want to get her used to sitting on her potty. She'll only sit on it if the lids down and her diaper is on. Any ideas?

Don't push it...doctors will tell you that if you potty train before a child is ready then they are more likely to regress. Let her sit on the potty with her diaper on then eventually try it every once in a while without a diaper...But take it slow.

I used the method in the book 'how to potty train in a day or less'. It is fun for the kids.. full of energy and works excellent. It worked for my daughter... only after a few weeks she decided not to use the tiolet. It was then a battle of the wills... becuase she felt the sensations and kwew to go on the tiolet. It was so bad she refused to even pull down her panites and sit on the tiolet ever... she refused to acknowlege that the tiolet existed. And she was perfectly potty trained. that book did wonders... Finally at 2 years old I had to hold her on the tiolet by her hips and she would scream and wiggle for up to 30 minutes at a time I just held her there. Once I got her to just sit there upon request. then I went back to potty training. It took all of two hours since she already knew from before. i would reccmend it... she caught on so quick. I am going to use it again... and hopefull have a less willful child, lol
Try giving her a treat (what she considers a treat ;)), and let her know you're only giving her another one is she accepts the potty deed.
ALSO - maybe its something about the actual potty she doesnt like? Try letting her use a different one...at that age, I'm sure she wont make the connection.

She will do it when she's ready. Show her the potty you use (let her watch to see that it's ok, if you're comfortable with that) and just leave her potty where she can sit on it when she feels ready.

Try laying off for a while, but leave the potty in the bathroom.
Then try again in a few weeks.
well you could try to show her that she shouldint be scared to go on the potty and you should tell her if you go to the potty in the toilettes i will give you a suprise
she has seen you on the toilet right? you could try geting her a ring that goes on the toilet because she knows its safe and use the potty as a step latter to get there
