my daughter is 2 1/2 and i feel it is time to start potty training but I have no idea what I am doing!! I got her some pull ups and cheap diapers so she doesnt want to wear them. I have been putting her on the potty every hour for about 10 minuets but nothing has happened and she keeps going in the pull ups. I was told to get some big girl panties and put her on those and after a few accidents she will learn not to go potty in her pants, does this really work? How long does it usually take to potty train a little girl?

Take her 15 minutes after she drinks a cup of juice or milk. Take her when she wakes up. Take her before she goes to bed. Quit with the every 10 min stuff - you need to make her successful not bored. I never put panties on my girls until they were nearly totally trained - #1 I don't want to clean up pee all day #2 toddlers get upset when they wet on themselves.
How long? In our house about 4 months to being totally trained. Mine were trained at 20 mo and 22 mo.
I'm a Child Development Major and a big part of our research was on potty training. Girls usually are quicker with potty training than boys. On average, girls get potty trained between 2 and 3, so your daughter is at the perfect age!
Some tips that have worked for others are taking them to get their own little potty. If you let her pick it out it will make her feel more like it is "hers" and she is more likely to want to use it. Then, let her get familiar with it and know how it works.
Sometimes taking them to pick out "big girl panties" helps as well because you can explain to her that she gets to wear the cute big girl panties when she uses the big girl potty.
Some people have even had little "parties" when they go in the potty. They have a little cup of confetti by the toilet and every time their child makes it to the potty, they throw the confetti and celebrate.
There's also a song that some kids learn and sing and then by remembering the "potty song" they remember to go to the potty when they need to.
Hope this helps!
I can't answer how long it takes for a little girl but I can tell you what I did for my son. The whole process took about 2 weeks. I started with a sticker chart. If he peed on the potty he got to pick a sticker and he got to put it on (I used foam stickers in different shapes and colors and that really helped him with his shapes as well). If be pooed on the potty he got a "special sticker" which was a pack of glittery trucks and planes that he was really excited about. The first few days I actually just let him run around the house naked or at least without bottoms- that made him more aware of when he needed to use the bathroom. I did have a few accidents on the floor to clean up at first though. He eventually got tired of the sticker chart and was not motivated to use the potty at all. So I took a clear jar and cut a slit in the lid. I gathered all the pennies I could find and put them in a bag. Everytime he used the bathroom he got 1 penny for peeing and 2 for pooping. At the end of the week if he had no or only one or two accidents we would go to the store and he could pick out a candy. He also really enjoyed shaking the jar with the pennies inside. Also I bought him underwear with his favorite characters and it works really well to say "don't get buzz lightyear wet or dirty" or whatever the character is. He now only uses diapers at night or if we have a long trip. Good luck to you :)
yes i was the same way with my lil boy but he did it himself give her heer space she would soone do it her self also by her lil underwear n if she has an accindent live her for a a minute like that it would botther her
