Is there any way that you can go with your mom best friend as a minor instead of waiting for a passport?
The answer is NO. No one is allowed to leave a certain airport in any country around the world without a valid identification which is why you need urgently a passport issued by the Embassy that represent your nationality.
I presume you are a British national therefore you need to have a British passport in order to travel and stay or live in India. There is NO EXCEPTION to the rule, even diplomat or Ambassador(s) of different countries have diplomatic passport how much more a civilian like yourself. It doesn't matter if you will turn 18 this year or next year the important thing is you must secure a valid passport to get out of Heath row airport.
Your friend is right when he said to you that " it is impossible for you to expatriate in some different country without a passport". Why you cannot wait for a passport that you are in a hurry to get out of England? Someone is after you? Debts? You committed a crime in England? If none of the things I had said then you got no choice, you have to secure a valid passport if you want to get out of England otherwise, you have to stay in London for a few months or so. Simple isn't? We are the only one making things complicated.
You need a passport to leave the UK
You need a passport to enter India
As a minor UK and India may also require permission from your father or legal guardian before permitting you to cross the border.
Contact the Indian Embassy in London for detailed requirements. Since you are already in London, I would suggest you visit the Embassy and ask directly at the Consular Services desk.

You are 17 & want to be treated as an adult. Right? But to travel without a passport you must be a small child in the company of an adult. The airline will say you must share the seat of the adult. If you get a seat of your own then you must have a passport.
Believe your friends.
you must have a passport in order to go to another country its the international law and btw when you get your passport all you have to worry is your ticket and expenses. just be patient. what's god's will for.you is his will. just pray to be guided in your struggles and he will give it to you if it is according to his.will
