distance is the total path traversed by a moving body.
displacement is the straight line distance between the body's initial position and its final position.
distance is a scalar quantity, signified only by its magnitude e.g. 20 meters, 10 cm, 1 km
displacement is a vector quantity, it gives the both magnitude and the direction of the moving object e.g. 20 m, to the right 1 km, west
