If you like reading real paper books, "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson is a great addition or start to your photographic library.

hey i'll give you a nice trick ..> prepare your cam in low sutter speed like 4 sec or more then try to take a pic (in dark) to a moving spot light(s) of any kind and see what will you get ;)
Go to http://www.adorama.com/ and then click on AIRC (Adorama Imaging Resource Center).
Your camera manufacturer may have on-line tutorials so check their website.
hmm i have the same problem ! my teacher meet is tom and i havent taken one decent pic yet.
