I have seen that a school near me is doing training to do phlebotomy, I was wondering if someone has to be a nurse or want to become a nurse to learn this, or can you just do phlebotomy training and become certified for that alone?
Update:So I can become a phlebotomist without having to go into a nursing program if I went to one of the colleges offering it?

Most states have no requirements beyond a high school degree. Here's what California requires:

It is common for hospitals to hire phlebotomists instead of nurses to do sticks. For one thing, the pay is far lower. Nursing schools are phasing out the training. Hospitals will train those RNs that need it.
The good news is: you can take the course. The bad news is: the classmates sticking you aren't generally good enough to get into nursing school.
